El Caporal in Canon City

I'm sure it's a pretty good restaurant most of the time. But my food came out and it was cold on the inside the waiter didn't even come by my table at all to see if things were okay or to refill my water or anything I had to flag down a busboy to ask for water and check. Maybe I'll just hit him on a bad day cuz I haven't heard anything but good things about this place

Everything was decent except, when they brought my beef taco. A restaurant shows that they give up on caring when they serve taco bell meat in their tacos. I mean come on how hard is it to buy fresh hamburger and cook it and put it in your tacos.

El Caporal has been one of our favorite restaurants for nearly sixteen years. The food is outstanding as are the employees. We love El Caporal.

Authentic but unique Mexican dining experience. Had the Burrito Colorado. Large chunks of tender beef with a really good tasting red sauce. Accommodated my infant granddaughter without making a big deal of it. Great service.

Its so rare in these times to find a restaurant that not only serves the best delicious food, and prices very reasonable, and the staff is professionally dressed and very friendly and prompt with your orders, we keep coming back at least twice a week now for the last 6 years! Thank you El Caporal!!!!

Their salsa was truly delicious. You could tel the amount of care they put in it. Their burritos and enchiladas were good. The creamy sauce they used tasted strongly of sour cream but was very good if you like that creamy taste. Would go here again!

Me & mine think this is the best Mexican restaurant in Canon city. Great staffing and prices to amount of quality food is even better

The food was excellent!! Large portions for your money!!

Service was fast. The male server was ok, seemed a little snooty. We also had a lady and she was very nice. The food was pretty good. Nothing to rave about. Didn't like that you have to pay extra to chips and salsa and they do not have cheese dip. Salsa was pretty spicy. The plates were scalding hot.

I don't want to leave a bad review. Especially when employees are trying to survive. But when a friend and I get sick from the take out.20 minutes after I ate I was in the bathroom. And both of us sick the next day. I will not be eating there again.

OMG this was really good!!! And let me tell you the serving portions are out of this world. We got the cheese burger for my son, I got the two sopitos and my husband ordered some taco plate.

I was in shock. The food is very flavorfull and the service is Great! Loved every minute of it. The restaurant has a very beautiful atmosphere to it. The staff is very friendly and their tables carry a beautiful set up of the pieces that you can find in Mexico. Thank you.

I am a Texas girl, and very picky when it comes to Mexican food. This place has amazingly good Spinach enchiladas.

Had a great lunch with friends. Serving sizes were huge! No one left hungry. I had a smothered burrito and enchiladas. They were very very delicious. Our server was perfect not rushed at all seemed to want our lunch to be perfect for us. Our drinks were cold and wet!!! Everyone with us was very happy with their lunch. We will be back!

When visiting family in Canon City, we often go to El Caporal. We enjoy the food here - it is fresh, authentic and served quickly. It's not a "fancy" place, but always very clean and comfortable. The Margaritas are good and everything is reasonably priced. This is a great place to go with family or friends, you will leave satisfied without a giant bill.

Mexican food is my favorite! I’m from Texas, lived in Cali and Mexico is my travel destination of choice. If I lived here, this would be the restaurant I take all of my friends and family. The staff weren’t rushed, but they seemed to care and had a respectful demeanor. The food was amazing all around. There were five of us and each plate looked amazing. The flan is one of the best I’ve ever had 🤤The quality of the food is high and the prices weren’t bad.

Prices where to high for the food, guess that's the price you play in this area. Use to Texas prices and good food. Was bad, just not the greates.

I paid my bill with my credit card and the waiter took a long time giving it back. Same day a fraudulent charge appeared on my card. Can't say for sure but hell of a quintessential thing.

Very different from your typical Mexican restaurant. But a good different. They did not have queso, which came as a huge shock to my husband & I. However, they did have delicious guacamole. We also tried some type of fried tortilla & cheese app tht was amazing. My New York strip was a nice cut with very little fat @ all. Nicely flavored, but a little over cooked. You may want to try a degree lower than normal. For dessert I had the flan. Like everything else it had a very nice presentation. It was also really good! The menu does state that they charge for additional chips & slasa, but we were not charged. Maybe because we ordered apps? Idk. Overall we had a great experience & our server was friendly, prompt & attentive. If we ever decide to come back for a visit we will definitely have to stop in again.

I LOVE this place, one of my absolute favorites in town. You can always guarantee that you’ll get your food fast and it’ll be hot and delicious. One of the best Mexican food places in town in my opinion. Oh and their salsa is to die for!

This is a GREAT place to get authentic tasting food. The service was great, the dinnerware was remarkable, and the atmosphere was quaint, warm and lovely. A great place for business meetings, informal gathering and family affairs !

Visiting family in town. The service was prompt and the food was surprisingly good. We have been to all the Mexican restaurants in Canon City and decided this one is your best bet. We went on an early Saturday night. It was busy but they had the staff and all went smoothly. We will go back the next time we are in town.

We absolutely love this place! We drive from Pueblo West just to eat here. Food is always fresh. Staff is always friendly and smiling. Service is spot on and very quick. Restaurant is clean and has never been loud or super crowded. Definitely worth checking out!!!

Excellent lunch. Had the beef chimichangas which had very good guacamole and sour cream on top and a side of refried beans and rice. Delicious!! The service was friendly and efficient and the restrooms were very clean.

Food was very good, prices are more than reasonable, and portion sizes were on the bigger side. Staff was attentive, and friendly! My husband and I had a long day, and enjoyed a leisurely meal, with out feeling rushed.

The food we had was good. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. I'll try it again the next time we're in town.
